Dr. Debiprosad Pal has been a brilliant scholar throughout his academic life. He obtained First Class in Economics in M.A. Examination of the Calcutta University and stood first among the regular candidates. He stood First in the First Class in all the Law Examinations of the University of Calcutta and has created a record by obtaining the best Law Student Medal (Kedarnath Banerjee Gold Medal) for three terms. He was the only student in the year 1953 who obtained the Degree of Master of Laws from the Calcutta University and has acquired a unique distinction in the history of the Calcutta University by obtaining the Degree of Doctor of Literature (D.LITT) in political economy from the University of Calcutta. Both of his doctoral dissertations were examined and highly appreciated by eminent scholars of international repute from U.K. and U.S.A.
Dr. Pal was a Judge of the High Court at Calcutta until he resigned in December, 1973. He is practicing as a Senior Advocate appearing in the Supreme Court and all the High Courts in India as a leading Lawyer and is considered as a leading authority in all branches of Taxation Laws and Constitutional Laws and an expert in International Law.
